MIDSUMMER MAGIC
AT LIMEKILN FARM
SATURDAY 1ST JULY 2023
SHORT FAMILY PERFORMANCE AT 3PM EVENING PERFORMANCE AT 6PM
The eighteen singers of 'Singing Salon' will take you on a magical and fun adventure through the gardens of Limekiln Farm.
When Hansel and Gretel are thrown out into the forest by their exasperated mother to look for strawberries, they find that the forest is full of new friends, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and a Witch...or two! We will meet the Sandman, ’Night’ herself and even Shakespeare’s Falstaff!
The evening will include music such as the exquisite ‘Evening Prayer’ from Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel and Gretel, the playful and tuneful ‘Into the Woods’ from Stephen Sondheim’s famous musical, the gloriously beautiful and atmospheric music of Henry Purcell’s ‘Fairy Queen’ and the fabulous melodies and wit of Verdi’s ‘Falstaff’.
The terrain is flat and there will be a number of chairs available throughout the route.
The performance will start at 6pm and end by approximately 7.30/8pm.
Each half will last approximately 40 minutes, and the first half will by followed by a short drinks interval.
The performance is suitable for adults and older children. It has been created by Pippa Dames-Longworth and will be accompanied by Nicholas Bosworth.
If it rains there will be updates on the website. However, unless it is torrential, we will go ahead.
At 3pm, we shall perform the first half of the programme for younger children and families. This Family performance will last approximately 45 mins. A special FAMILY TICKET (one adult plus children) is available for the Family Performance.
Tickets can also be purchased by emailing boxoffice@villagesmusicfestival.org, or phoning 01323 811835
