The Magical Music Tree was created by composer Luke Carver Goss and writer Ian McMillan, using tunes and lines suggested by young people from Haverhill in Suffolk.
The story is this: A dodo, a fish and a unicorn live in a tree that makes music. They like their tree and they’d like to live there together, forever, but the problem is some hunters are coming to destroy the creatures in the tree and probably, if they can find big enough arrows, the tree itself.
The creatures in the tree sing to the hunters but that seems to make it worse because the hunters can’t stand the singing. Things are looking bad for the creatures, and the tree. The dodo could be a no-no, the fish could drown in a shower of arrows and the unicorn could be made extinct.
In a last desperate attempt to save themselves and the tree, the creatures fire music notes at the hunters from the unicorn’s horn. The hunters, showered with the notes, sing along with the creatures in the tree as they discover the power of music and harmony is restored.
